COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
MEAT TYING MACHINE, MANUAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
1. Intended use. This commercial item description covers a meat tying machine used for packaging all types of meat.
2. Salient characteristics.
2.1 Design and construction. The meat tying machine shall consist of a tapered stainless steel horn that is detachable from the base plate. The horn material shall be fabricated from a minimum of #24 stainless steel. The base plate shall be fabricated from die cast zinc with nickel plating. The horn shall be slotted vertically through the approximate center so that the bar and slot will guide the string in looping around meats. The approximate overall dimensions of the horn shall be 27 inches long with a 4 inch diameter at the small end and 11 inch diameter at the large end. The base plate shall measure approximately 10 by 16 inches and the overall height of the meat tying machine shall be approximately 11 inches.
2.2 Standard compliance. The meat tying machine shall comply with the National Sanitation Foundation Standard NO. C-2.
3. Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same product sold in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
